Review : Mocute 056 Gamepad - A great choice for the Oculus Go

BACKGROUND
I'd been looking to buy an Oculus Go and had already researched the type of games I wanted to play on it. Vendetta Online (its brilliant, buy it now) being the one on the top of my list. Everything I read about it suggested that a Bluetooth gamepad was pretty much a requirement. I knew that the £250 needed for the Oculus Go was a stretch and I didn't want to spend an additional £40 to £50 on an XBox One S controller which is the usual recommended gamepad. The Mocute 056 was a little bit of a risk, I could find no mention of it being used with an Oculus Go but I did see some their other controllers mentioned quite favourably. Some controllers by other manufacturers where showing as having a few issues with input lag between the controller and what was happening on screen. Seeing that the 056 implied to me that it was one of their newer models and that it was costing around £12 delivered from Gearbest, I went with that and crossed my fingers.

CONCLUSION
The risk payed off, I'm very happy with the build quality, analogue sticks are smooth, although the triggers look as if they're analogue I think they are in fact digital, not a problem for me but might be for others. On the Oculus Go I've tried it with Vendetta Online and also with Herobound First Steps, response from controller to screen was perfect. I would say it is a little more compact than a typical controller and I've shown it against a wired Microsft 360 controller below for comparison sake. Battery life is quoted at around 40 hours from one charge (impressive).

Obviously if you have the money, the XBox One S controller would be the one to go for, however if you're on a budget and want a controller that will just work with the Oculus Go I'd recommend the Mocute 056.
